  • Want to change how the font looks? 


  1. Ctrl + B = Bold
  2. Ctrl + I = Italics
  3. Ctrl + U = Underline
  4. Ctrl + Shift + F = Change the font
  5. Ctrl + [ = Increase selected font +1pts
  6. Ctrl + ] = Decrease selected font -1pts
  7. Ctrl + Shift + A = Format all letters as capitals
  8. Shift + F3 = Change the text in document from uppercase to lowercase or a capital letter at the beginning of every word.
  9. Ctrl + Spacebar = Reset highlighted text to default font.


  • Open a document, a dialog box or just print faster:
  1. Ctrl + D = Open the font preferences window
  2. Ctrl + F = Open Find box
  3. Ctrl + O = Opens the dialog box or page for selecting a file to open
  4. Ctrl + N = Opens a new, blank document
  5. Ctrl + P = Opens the print window
  6. F5 = Open the Find, Replace, and Go To window
  7. Ctrl + F2 = Display the print preview


  • Insert bullet points, hyperlinks or characters with accent marks quicker:

  1. Ctrl + K = Insert a hyperlink
  2. Ctrl + Shift + L = Insert a bullet point
  3. Ctrl + / + c = Insert a cent sign (¢)
  4. Ctrl + ‘ + <char> = Insert a character with an accent (grave) mark, where <char> is the character you want. E.g. if you wanted an accented é you would use Ctrl + ‘ + e as your shortcut key.
  5. Shift + Alt + D = Insert the current date
  6. Shift + Alt + T = Insert the current time

  1. Ctrl + E = Aligns the line or selected text to the centre of the screen
  2. Ctrl + J = Aligns the selected text or line to justify the screen
  3. Ctrl + L = Aligns the line or selected text to the left of the screen
  4. Ctrl + M = Indent the paragraph
  5. Ctrl + R = Aligns the line or selected the to the right of the screen
  6. Ctrl + T = Create a hanging indent
  7. Ctrl + 1 = Single-line spacing
  8. Ctrl + 2 = Double-line spacing
  9. Ctrl + 5 = 1.5-line spacing
  10. Ctrl + Alt + 1 = Changes text to Heading 1
  11. Ctrl + Alt + 2 = Changes text to Heading 2
  12. Ctrl + Alt + 3 = Changes text to Heading 3
  13. Shift + Enter = Create a soft break instead of a new paragraph

  • Check your spelling or grammar:
  1. F7 = Spellcheck and Grammar Check selected text or whole document
  2. Shift + F7 = Runs a Thesaurus check on the selected word

👆      Moving about open documents:
  1. Ctrl + End = Moves the cursor to the end of the document
  2. Ctrl + Home = Moves the cursor to the beginning of the document
  3. Ctrl + Shift + F6 = Switches to another open Microsoft Word document

Select, delete or redo:



  1. Ctrl + A = Select all contents of the page
  2. Ctrl + Y = Redo the last action performed. Just like F4.
  3. Ctrl + Z = Undo action
  4. Ctrl + Del = Deletes the word to the right of the cursor
  5. Ctrl + Backspace = Deletes the word to the left of the cursor

Save and close your document:



  1. Ctrl + S = Save the open document. Just like Shift + F12.
  2. F12 = Save as.
  3. Ctrl + W = Close the currently open document.
using first time these keys may b difficult .. but when u made practice then u find these keys very helpful.
